Why Go To A Spa?

Until recently, I had never been to a spa! In fact, I had no idea why people went to spas at all. Wasn’t it just a waste of their hard earned money? Not at all! is what I say after my regular spa visits:)

Here are five reasons you should go to a spa:

  1. Your Relaxation Time â€" We all need to relax a little bit more! The great thing about going to a spa is it is relaxing because you are free from all your technology tethers. No cell phone, no emails, no social media to keep up with. With calming music, great smells and lots of massages you can regain your inner peace and come back refreshed and relaxed to your everyday life. Getting away from it all never felt so good :)
  2. Your Detox Shotâ€" Another advantage a spa has is the detox your body and mind goes through. Physically the massages, skin treatments and gentle exfoliators help to remove toxins from your skin, pores and muscles. However mentally you are also letting go of stress and other things that keep you from enjoying your life. Many times the healthy food and drinks provided at the spa are full of natural antioxidants and detoxifiers that help your body to rid itself of toxins and regain balance.
  3. Your Time To Connect â€" Spa days can be a great choice to reconnect with your loved ones. Go to the spa with your partner, your family, your friends or even your child. Older children and teens that can enjoy that type of serenity also love being pampered and spending time with mom or dad. Time away from your busy schedules could be just the thing to form stronger bonds and rekindle the spark!
  4. Your Health Meter â€"Spas are built around improving your health mentally and physically. Massages, skin treatments and time in the whirlpool all help your body to relax and get back to normal. Blood pressure drops, pain disappears and even your mood can improve. They say that physical contact like a massage can even boost your positive hormones and the effects can last for days. With healthy meal choices and beautiful settings, a spa is a great place to feel better.
  5. Your Pamper Moments â€"Last but not least a spa is all about pampering :) You can all use days that are just about you.  You give all your time and energy to others- to work, to children, to partners, and sometimes we forget to give ourselves something. By taking a spa day you can feel pampered and taken care of!

Going to the spa is a fun and relaxing experience. For the best experience possible do your research and take a friend or loved one along on your first trip. That way you can learn, laugh and relax together!

Tips To Win Against Spots

Flawless, soft and beautiful looking skin is what all of us desire to have. However, pigmentation, sun spots and freckles are a few things that can ruin your skin’s beauty.

Causes of Pigmentation: One of the major reasons for pigmentation is prolonged exposure to the sun. When melanin is created in surplus it results in dark patches on the skin. Exposure to the sun further increase these dark patches. Pigmentation also occurs when the body undergoes certain hormonal changes. Hormonal changes generally occur during pregnancy, menopause and when taking certain medications like oral contraceptive pills. Besides these, if you are injured it leads to swelling and soreness which accelerates melanin production and causes spots and patches on skin.

Ways to Deal with Pigmentation: You can utilize some excellent and harmless lightening agents such as Vitamin C and Retin A. One of the best parts about skin products containing these agents is that they have excellent exfoliating properties. Utilizing these agents regularly helps exfoliate dead cells and accelerates growth of new skin which minimizes pigmentation spots to a large extent. Skin peels prepared from natural acids that are a part of certain plant and fruit sources, are great for lessening pigmentation. Most commonly used skin peels include alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) peels, Trichloracetic acid (TCA) peels and Beta-hydroxy peels (BHA).

How to keep pigmentation at bay?

  • Keep away from excessive sunlight particularly during peak hours when the sun is right above your head, which means avoid going out between 11am-4pm.
  • Apply a good sunscreen with high SPF before going out and also make sure you apply it after every three to four hours.
  • Nutritional supplements of Vitamin C and anti-oxidants are a few important things you must take regularly to keep pigmentation at bay.
  • Acne breakouts can leave long-lasting dark spots on your skin. Keep breakouts to the minimum. In order to ensure that your acne breakouts heal faster and avoid spots on your skin, it is vital to use an antibacterial bar soap when washing your face.
  • Stay hydrated by consuming a good amount of water, the recommended amount is 7 to 8 glasses per day. Skin that is left dehydrated is vulnerable to hyper-pigmentation.
  • Steer clear of color cosmetics and fragrances like lavender. Such products can soak up UV rays and result in hyper-pigmentation.
  • Quit smoking which is largely responsible for freckles and dark spots on your face.
  • Lastly, follow a healthy lifestyle by incorporating exercise, healthy diet and getting sufficient sleep to improve your chances of having gorgeous looking skin.

Cheers to happy skin!
