Kenneth Mark, MD Anti-Aging Mask with Lipoic Acid - Truth In Aging

by Linda

Lucky me! I was just beginning my search for a mask, when I was chosen to try the Kenneth Mark, M.D. Anti-Aging Mask with Lipoic Acid ($69).

The product arrived with instructions to be completely honest in my evaluation and suggested I review the product’s ingredients. Their emphasis on candor reinforced my opinion that Truth In Aging is dedicated to presenting unbiased information on products tested by real women.

I'm 60 years old, and in the past I have used two kinds of masks: the drying, cracked-earth type that had to be chiseled off the face and the goopy ones that never dried. Kenneth Mark, M.D. Anti-Aging Mask with Lipoic Acid presented a third type -- one that dried, but not to the point of cracking and pulling. The mask employs a kaolin clay medium which contains such goodies as jojoba oil, green tea extract and vitamin C, as well as the much-touted alpha lipoic acid. While there is no doubt that alpha lipoic acid is a cellular powerhouse when taken internally, there is less evidence that, when applied topically, it can impart the same anti-aging benefits. There have been some studies performed with positive results. However, the studies were conducted by a doctor whose company sells products which tout alpha lipoic acid as its key ingredient. While the jury’s still out, the consensus is that it might truly turn out to be more effective than retinol or alpha hydroxies (and without the harsh side-effects), and it certainly won’t harm your skin.

My impressions are that it left my skin looking more radiant with pores less noticeable and a very smooth surface overall. Unfortunately, I could not see a reduction of fine lines, but honestly, I didn’t expect a mask to do that.  I can’t speak to any anti-acne properties it might have, as I don’t have that particular problem. The mask was easy to remove with a warm washcloth. I got even better results when using it in conjunction with my Ultra Renew Plus.

In conclusion, I feel masks are a necessary part of any beauty routine, and the Kenneth Mark, M.D. Anti-Aging Mask with Lipoic Acid is one I will purchase in the future.
