5 DIY Ways To Lighten Acne Scars

shutterstock_67699915Acne scars can seriously damage your self-confidence. Suffering from acne is bad enough and having marks left on your face makes the situation even worse. Luckily, there are certain natural products and ingredients that you can use to remove acne scars.

Here are 5 DIY ways to lighten acne scars and look awesome!

Lime or Lemon Juice: Citrus fruits have natural skin lightening qualities. Over time, the application of pure lime or lemon juice will lead to the lightening of the scars.

Squeeze the juice of a fresh lime or lemon onto a cotton ball. Dab into the affected area and let it act overnight. Wash your face the next morning and apply your usual skin care products. Repeat until you get the desired results.

Apple Cider Vinegar: Apple cider vinegar is incredibly healthy and it can also be used to improve the condition of your skin.

Organic apple cider vinegar reduces redness, dark spots and the appearance of scars. For best results, dilute the apple cider vinegar with some water and apply to the affected area.

Cinnamon-Honey Acne Scar Lightening Mask: Cinnamon has astringent and anti-viral qualities. Honey has healing properties and it can improve the appearance of your skin. This mask is perfect for hydrating your face and getting rid of those acne scars.

Mix half a teaspoon of cinnamon, half a teaspoon of nutmeg, one tablespoon of honey and the juice of half a lemon. Apply the mask to the affected area and keep it on for 20 minutes. Rinse your face off and repeat until you get results.

Essential Oils: Acne scars can be lightened naturally through the use of various essential oils.

Sandalwood oil is one of the best natural treatments for acne scars. It reduces pigmentation in the skin and improves the appearance of spots and scars.

Mix equal parts of sandalwood oil and rose water. Dab on the affected area with a cotton ball and let it work overnight. Olive oil can also be used since it moisturizes the skin, softens it and makes the scars less visible.

Good Exfoliation: Good exfoliation will help for the significant reduction of the acne scars. There is no need to go for the store-bought scrubs. You can make your own acne scar reducing scrub at home.

For sensitive, acne-prone skin, mix a cup of sugar, half a cup of whole milk, and one tablespoon of honey and two tablespoons of olive oil. Use your fingers to gently massage into the face or other skin parts affected by acne scars. Use the scrub on a daily basis and hydrate your skin after you are done.

Enjoy the season of Fall with renewed skin vigor and health!
