5 Exercises To Reduce The Effects Of Aging

But while we might not “feel” that number, cruel “time” does leave its mark on its canvas, US!  With age, diminishing hormone levels and reduced moisture content aging signs like fine lines, wrinkles and sagging skin come in prominence.  While we might stock our beauty cabinets with all the creams promising the elixir of youth, there is no better remedy to reduce the signs of aging than a diligent dose of “good old” exercise.

  1. The Kick Back Push Up â€" Firms and strengthens shoulders, back, glutes and chest.

Begin with kneeling on the mat placing your arms and knees on the floor shoulder apart. Your posture should form a straight line from your shoulders to the knees. Now slightly bend your arms and lower your chest (like a push up) till your upper arms are parallel to the floor. Come back to start position and now extend your right leg straight back keeping your toes pointed and glutes squeezed. Return to start position. Repeat with the left leg. Do 3 sets of 10 reps each.

  1. The Core Pulse â€" Tightens and tones up the belly pooch

Lie on your mat with arms placed face down on your sides and legs extended at a 45 degree angle. Using your abdominal muscles lift your arms, head, shoulders and upper back a couple inches off the floor as you inhale. Breathe to a count of ten pulsing your arms up and down. Exhale as you come back to start position.  Do 3 sets of 5 reps increasing by 1 rep each day.

  1. The Warrior move â€" Strengthens abs, glutes, arms and legs

Stand on your mat with your feet apart with your right leg facing out to your side and left slightly inward. Your torso should face forward. Now as you exhale bend your right knee out. Inhale and raise your arms out to your side. Turn your head to the right and hold the position for a count of 10. Repeat with left leg. Do 3 sets of 5 reps.

  1. The Sphinxâ€" Stretches and strengthens the back, chest and arms. Also improves posture.

Begin by lying face down on your mat, keeping your legs together, elbows tucked into your sides and your hands pointing forward. As you inhale lift your chest up as you press down on your forearms and palms drawing the ears away from the shoulder. Make sure that your elbows are placed below your shoulder. Hold this position for 30 seconds and repeat 10 times.

  1. Facial yoga â€" Reduce eye bags, crow’s feet, dark circles and improve circulation

Place your thumb on your chin and the tips of your ring finger at the corner of your eyes and start making small outward circles. Go clockwise 10 times and anticlockwise 10 times. Rub your palms together to warm them and gently place them on your eyes. Keep your eyes closed and relax.

Add at least 15 minutes of any cardio. work out to the above exercise regime to up your estrogen levels, release good hormones and bust off stress.

Try these age erasing moves and turn the clock back. After all, age is just a number!
